Privacy Policy
Last updated September 18, 2026
This policy explains what iMeetPlace collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have. It applies to the iMeetPlace app, the website at imeetplace.com, and the venue and organization dashboards. It is written for members in the United States, the European Union, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland.
1. Who we are
iMeetPlace is operated by [COMPANY LEGAL NAME], [COMPANY ADDRESS] (“iMeetPlace”, “we”, “us”). We are the data controller for the personal data described here. For anything in this policy, write to privacy@imeetplace.com. Members in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland can also contact our representative or data protection contact at the same address.
2. What we collect
We collect only what the service needs to work. Where it says “you provide”, you can decline, but some features then do not work.
- Account and identity. Phone number (verified by SMS code), optional email, first name, date of birth (used to confirm you are 18 or older and to show your age; the date itself is never shown to others), and sign-in identifiers if you use Apple or Google sign-in.
- Profile. Photos, bio, intents (friends, dating, networking), interests, languages and your visibility settings. You choose what to include.
- Verification selfie. If you choose to verify, a selfie that is compared with your profile photos. This comparison uses facial geometry, which is biometric data. We ask for your explicit consent before processing it, we keep the selfie only as long as needed to complete the check and handle disputes, and we never use it for any other purpose or share it with venues or other members.
- Location. Approximate location while you use the app, to build your Orbit. We store a rounded location, and we only ever show other members and venues a distance rounded to the mile. Precise coordinates are never shown to anyone.
- Activity. Swipes, matches, Meets you create or join, check-ins, table holds, ratings you give and receive, offers you redeem, and the venues you favorite.
- Messages. Chats with other members and with venues, so we can deliver them and act on reports. Video Hello calls are not recorded, stored or transcribed.
- Concierge requests. The text you type to the concierge and the context needed to answer (your rounded location, intent and the venues in your Orbit). Requests are sent to our AI provider from our servers, never from your phone, without your name or contact details.
- Payments. Member subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google; we receive a receipt, never your card. Venue and organization payments are processed by Stripe; we store the Stripe customer and invoice identifiers, not card numbers.
- Device and usage. Device type, app version, push token, crash reports, IP address and basic usage events so the app works and we can fix problems.
- Support and reports. What you send us when you contact support, report a member or venue, or appeal a decision.
3. Why we use it, and our legal bases
- To provide the service (contract): your account, Orbit, matching, Meets, chats, notifications and payments.
- Safety and integrity (legitimate interests, and legal obligation where it applies): verification, age checks, reviewing reports, preventing fraud and abuse, enforcing our Terms.
- Verification selfie (explicit consent): you can withdraw consent at any time in Settings; your verified badge is then removed.
- Location (consent through your device permission): you can turn it off at any time in your device settings; the Orbit then shows a city-level view.
- Improving iMeetPlace (legitimate interests): aggregated, de-identified analytics about how features are used. We do not sell personal data and we do not use your messages or photos to train AI models.
- Marketing (consent, or legitimate interests for existing members where the law allows): occasional emails or notifications about iMeetPlace, with an unsubscribe in every message.
4. Who can see what
- Other members see your first name, age, photos, bio, intents, interests, rounded distance, Verified status and your Orbit Passport summary (ratings, Meet count, Show rate). They never see your phone number, email, date of birth or exact location.
- Venues that receive a Meet request see initials, party size, rating, Show rate and Verified status. They never see your photos, age, intent or contact details.
- Organizations you join with an invite code see that you are a member of their orbit and your profile as other members see it.
- Service providers that process data for us under contract: cloud hosting, SMS delivery, push notifications (Firebase Cloud Messaging), payment processing (Apple, Google, Stripe), email delivery, crash reporting, and the AI provider that powers the concierge and verification checks. They may only use data to provide their service to us.
- Legal. We disclose data when the law requires it, to protect the safety of members or the public, or to enforce our Terms. Where permitted, we tell you first.
- Business transfers. If iMeetPlace is acquired or merges, data may transfer with it under this policy.
5. International transfers
Our servers are in the United States. If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, your data is transferred there under the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, the UK International Data Transfer Addendum, or another lawful mechanism, with additional safeguards where needed. Contact us for a copy of the relevant terms.
6. How long we keep data
- Account and profile data: for as long as your account is active.
- Deleted accounts: removed within 30 days of your request. Upcoming Meets are cancelled and venues notified. Ratings you gave are anonymized rather than deleted, because they are part of the other party’s history.
- Verification selfies: deleted after the check is complete, or after any dispute is resolved.
- Messages: kept while the conversation exists; deleted when either party deletes the conversation or the account, except copies retained for an open report or legal hold.
- Payment records: kept as long as tax and accounting law requires, typically seven years.
- Logs and analytics: up to 13 months, then aggregated or deleted.
7. Your rights and choices
Everyone can view and edit their profile, change visibility settings (Verified-only, hide age, incognito, show in Orbit), turn location and notifications on or off, export their data, and delete their account from Settings.
If you are in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, you also have the rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict and port your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier processing. You can lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.
If you are a California resident, you have the rights under the CCPA and CPRA to know what personal information we collect and how it is used and shared, to delete it, to correct it, to limit the use of sensitive personal information, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. We do not sell personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Residents of other US states with privacy laws have similar rights.
To exercise any right, use Settings in the app or write to privacy@imeetplace.com. We verify requests through your account and respond within the time the law requires (one month in the EU and UK, 45 days in California). An authorized agent may act for you with your written permission.
8. Age
iMeetPlace is for adults. You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18, and we delete accounts we find that belong to minors.
9. Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access inside iMeetPlace is limited to staff who need it, and every access to member records is logged. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will notify you and the relevant authorities as the law requires.
10. Cookies on the website
imeetplace.com uses only the cookies needed for the site to function and, if you consent, privacy-respecting analytics that do not track you across other sites. Venue and organization dashboards use session cookies to keep you signed in.
11. Changes
When we change this policy in a meaningful way, we tell you in the app or by email before the change takes effect and update the date at the top. Earlier versions are available on request.
12. Contact
